Wonder belongs to us all

Schools & Libraries

ESTABLISHED 2022

I discovered the wondrous magic of reading in childhood, and it is something which has shaped my life ever since. My school library and the reading corners of each classroom were at the core of that magic.

My love for books led me to qualify as a Librarian over a decade ago. Since then, I’ve worked in some incredible libraries, and my favourite of those were school libraries.

I am passionate about the provision of School Libraries in the UK. If you would like any support or a consultation about your School Library in the West Midlands region, please get in touch. I am able to support with Acquisitions, Cataloguing and the organisation of resources. I have worked extensively in the promotion of further reading development for all age groups ranging from EYFS all the way through to Year 13. I have also developed my own Library and Information Skills Curriculum for all Key Stages including the IB programme, and am able to deliver Information Skills sessions to all year groups.

Please take a look at our Kids Corner for literary related printable activities and templates - we will add regularly to this area so do keep checking in!

The National Literacy Trust and Booktrust have long highlighted the immense benefits that reading can provide. For any schools which do not yet have a dedicated Library space, the National Literacy Trust's 'Libraries for Primaries' mission is to ensure that all schools have exactly that, regardless of the postcode.

School Libraries are intrinsically valuable spaces. Ensuring easy and regular access to a range of books everyday can make, quite literally, a world of difference to a young child. Wonder belongs to us all and my passion is to nurture a love of reading for pleasure in children and young adults – a love that continues well into adulthood.

Why Classics?

As with all great literature, including the very best of children’s picture books, a classic can be read anew more than once in one’s lifetime. Italo Calvino’s republished 1986 essay which can be found here asks the question ‘Why read the Classics?’, and offers some beautiful insights into the enduring reach of classics. Another thought-provoking article on the topic can be found here.
